What is a Bhajan?
From the Sanskrit word “bhaj,” meaning, “to serve, to love, to share,” bhajans are expressions of the soul that transform loving devotion to God into music and melody. Whether one person is singing alone on a river bank with a drum, or a group of musicians and singers are leading a gathering in song, bhajans are a beautiful bridge to healing, inspiration and celebration. Baba is always listening with great joy!
In 2016, devotees from the United States and Germany had the blessing to play bhajans for Baba at his mahasamadhi in Shirdi. Here are their stories:
The best way to experience bhajans is to play and sing along! Grab a drum or a guitar, get ready to sing like Baba is listening, and make some joyful noise!
Bhajans are one of the most powerful ways to develop unconditional love and to connect to Baba. Experiencing devotion through bhajans opens and heals the heart, and gives a direct experience of Baba's love and bliss. Bhajans help develop our divine qualities such as humility, gentleness and openheartedness.

When I was singing in front of Him, directly in Shirdi, in the vibrations of his bones, His Mahasamadhi, in His Gurustan, in the midst of all this places where He used to spend time and do His miracles... in His energy, again, I use the music to express my feelings and my Love and gratitude. You can watch the video and maybe you can understand what it meant to me then.
Sitting on His lap in front of His presence, no time existing anymore, everything else is vanishing. NOTHING exists anymore, no people, no reason, no nothing... only Him. Being with Him in the consciousness, sucking the nectar of the Divine Love, endless, unbound, beyond words, beyond mind, beyond even heart feelings... only sucking the truth..for a little moment in time...
